I’ve got a burning desire for you, baby

I’m feeling hot and ready for action. Interpret that however you want, but I bet you are too. Don’t you feel this yearning, this desire, this impulse toward something new, transformative, and maybe even provocative? When I say provocative, look inward and define it for yourself. What inner desire is calling out to you that feels like a break from your past and is urging you to let it out? What feels risky to you? What beast have you kept locked in the cage? It’s time to let it out.

This weekend marks a powerful astrological moment in our time. Yesterday, we had a solar eclipse in Aries and today Neptune moved from Pisces into Aries. These deep undercurrents of energy are expressing themselves through the inner planets — Venus and Mercury are still retrograde and are now in Pisces, while Mars is charging full speed ahead through Cancer. The inner and outer relational conflicts we’ve recently had are in a deeper state of contemplation, with a growing concentration of energy on what needs time to develop and what needs structure so that it doesn’t fall apart again.

We have all been learning profound lessons on the importance of valuing ourselves in relationships and to our attachments. In the last week, I have heard from many people about the turmoils and turning points in their relationships throughout this month. Fights, misunderstandings, obsessive desires, and ruminating thoughts have dominated the landscape. Then there are others that are experiencing the joy of being reconnected to the things that give them power and agency over their sense of self-confidence. But in this case, that joy most likely came after a long period of doubt, confusion, and even a sense of hopelessness. It’s a time of fighting for our lives, asserting our needs, and protecting ourselves at all costs. If we don’t, we’ll be left behind.

Yesterday’s solar eclipse in Aries exacerbated many of these feelings. Feel the heat under your feet the floor’s on fire cries Lady Gaga, a quintessential Aries provocateur, on her song Abracadabra on her new album MAYHEM. Mayhem is all around us and within us right now. Find your peace so that you can find your freedom. Unexpressed emotions are surfacing right now and watch out for the heat flying off your tongue. We can become angry when we feel we’re losing our peace or when our inner sanctity is being threatened. If these feelings explode out of you, consider their origin. Consider the self care you need in this moment and move in that direction. You can let this energy blow, but don’t burn down the damn house.

Neptune is an outer planet, meaning it is beyond the limits of what we can perceive. Saturn is the furthest planet we can see with the naked eye. Beyond that lies what we call the transpersonal planets: Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto. These represent energies that we cannot control, but they move through us regardless. These transpersonal planets orbit the sun very slowly. For example, Mercury, the closest planet to the sun, transits through a zodiac sign in about 2-3 weeks. Meanwhile, Neptune spends about 14 years in one zodiac sign. These energies move and transform us slowly over years at a time. Neptune entered Pisces in April 2011 and this morning it entered Aries. I am deeply fascinated by these planets and will do a lot more writing about them in the future.

Neptune manifests as what is ideal. We all have an idealistic vision of what we want our lives to be and to achieve our ideal we have to push past limitations. When haters project their insecurity onto you by saying you’re not good enough, you can either let them crush your dream or tell them to eat shit. Neptune moving into Aries is telling them to eat shit. This is my dream and within that dream lies my biggest potential. If you can’t support my dream, then get the fuck out of my way. I’m writing like an Aries right now because I feel this so powerfully moving through me. I’m a little feisty right now.

You are entering a new dream, a new ideal. Everything I wrote above about fighting for our lives and our needs is informing this vision. Pisces ends the zodiacal cycle and Aries marks a new beginning. So this dream you’re dreaming is probably not some small idea, it’s bold as hell. It’s saying you are that bitch. That all said, this new direction may not be quite clear to you yet. Give it some time.

If I am to leave on one note, it’s to allow yourself to surrender to these shifts in energy. Don’t resist the change you crave, but allow it to trickle into your life with ease. You don’t have to do it all at once. And you especially don’t have to prove anything to anyone. Right now is all about proving your power to yourself.
